Steve McKelvey was introduced as "Special Advisor to the Valley Blue Sox" prior to what would've been the start of the 2020 season.
McKelvey, is a professor and the Department Chair at UMass Amherst's Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management. This program is based in the Isenberg School of Management.
McKelvey earned his JD at Seton Hall School of Law, 1992, his MS in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, in 1986, and his BA Cum Laude, American Studies, Amherst College in 1981.
He has received awards such as, the Betty van der Smisson Leadership Award, Sport & Recreation Law Association in 2017 and the Presidents Award in Appreciation of Outstanding Service to Sport & Recreation Law Association, 2015, 2017
