Want to learn more about common baseball injuries?

We are proud to partner with Select Physical Therapy as the Official Athletic Training Provider of the Valley Blue Sox. Athletes are prone to injuries, and baseball players are no exception. We have been working with Select Physical therapy to keep all of your Blue Sox healthy this season. To learn more about four common injuries in baseball see below!

Ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, or Tommy John Surgery, may be needed after continued repetitive force of the elbow. This is most commonly seen with professional athletes, especially baseball pitchers. Following surgery, physical therapy will help to strengthen and condition the athlete to get them back to sport. Learn more about ways to prevent this common injury from occurring.

The throwers ten is a useful set of exercises designed to help throwing athletes strengthen important muscles in their arms. It’s a great starting point before adding in more dynamic movements and can be done during the season or off season. Pitchers returning to throwing after a long break should consider incorporating these exercises into their workout plan.

From playing a sport to opening a cabinet, your core muscles are essential for completing everyday tasks. You can complete core muscle training exercises to not only help strengthen your core, but also to boost your endurance, balance and coordination.

Low back pain is the most common injury that physical therapists treat, affecting 80% of people over the course of their life. Back pain often presents itself differently for each individual, with symptoms like pain across your low back or waist and stiffness. Physical therapy can help. It has proven to be a more effective treatment for reducing low back pain than medication. If you’re experiencing low back pain, visit BRAND to see how they can help you.
